Mystery Bass (the bug)

Ok what is this?  It is a carved top bass for sure!   It is weird!   It looks like a bug!(to me anyway).   It has a very soulful sound to my ear and is very articulate.   It has an e flat neck but has kind of a dimple or impression on the neck heel that indicates the d nicely for me.   I have heard been told it's an old german bass and had one person tell me it's a hungarian made instrument that is supposed to resemble an Ampeg baby bass.  It's a nice instrument, somewhat on the more petite end of the size spectrum and could really be a good instrument for the right player.   Access to the upper register is quite nice!  Of course take the size of he instrument compared to my stature with a grain of salt as I am large :)
